TECNALIA is an applied research centre committed to the scientific and technological development of the collaborating companies – mainly SMEs –, and the society as a whole. TECNALIA is the largest private R&D&I entity in Spain and the fifth in Europe, with a staff of over 1,400 employees and a turnover of nearly EUR 125 million. Key features as a powerful agent in co-‐operative endeavors are: its private nature; the focus on applied research; the fact of being a centre of international excellence; the impact on local industry and social fabric; and its openness to other organizations or networks keen to interact and co-‐generate knowledge. TECNALIA is member of the influential EUROTECH Security Research Group of EARTO. TECNALIA has 13 Business Units organized on a sector basis, made up of multi-‐disciplinary teams. The research in SOURCE will be conducted by the Innovation Systems unit, that focus on Security Innovation (technology early adoption, innovation promotion and R&D&I demand support), Innovation Models and Policies (design, deployment and evaluation of innovation policies in a given regional context), and Networked Society (creation of collaborative spaces for boosting social innovation). Pertinent background for this project includes FP7-‐SEC-‐2007-‐1 CRESCENDO; FP7-‐SEC-‐2011-‐1 InnoSec (led, in negotiation); and FP7-‐ENV-‐2008 IVC NoE LIAISE.
