Research of practical utility lies at the heart of all activities pursued by the Fraunhofer-­‐Gesellschaft. Founded in 1949, the research organisation undertakes applied research that drives economic development and serves the wider benefit of society. At present, the Fraunhofer-­‐Gesellschaft maintains more than 80 research units, including 59 Fraunhofer Institutes, at 40 different locations in Germany. The Fraunhofer-­‐Institut für Naturwissenschaftlich-­‐Technische Trendanalysen INT in Euskirchen has more than 30 years of experience in Technology Forecasting and Planning Support for Research & Development for public authorities, particularly the German Federal Ministry of Defence. In the field of civil security research, Fraunhofer INT is predominantly engaged on the European level in scenario-­‐based analysis and roadmapping activities (partner in FP7 projects DeMASST and CRESCENDO, Coordinator of the 4th call selected projects ACRIMAS and ETCETERA). It is also highly networked, participating in ESRAB as well as strongly contributing to ESRIF as member of the WGs ‘Foresight & Scenarios’, ‘Innovation’, ‘Crisis Management’ and ‘CBRN’. It is also a member of the Commission on Civil Protection of the German Federal Ministry of the Interior.
